The Dar Al Makhzen project, located in the Medina of Casablanca, was developed in response to a competition launched by the Urban Agency, aiming to restructure and rehabilitate a series of historic sites. This proposal is based on a deep reflection on the context, heritage, and program.
In a setting as rich in history as the Medina, a facility cannot be conceived as an isolated architectural object. It must be rooted in its heritage environment and designed primarily for its future users. The objective is to create a functional and attractive space—not through technological excess, but through a sober and calming architecture that invites discovery.
The architectural approach is based on a distribution of built volumes that frees up several esplanades. These open spaces become the heart of the project, fostering social interactions and hosting temporary exhibitions, artistic performances, and open-air cultural events.
